I Care a Lot tells the story of a woman who works in a guardianship agency named Marla Grayson (Rosamund Pike).

Marla will do whatever it takes to be appointed by the court to be the advocate for the elderly who are no longer able to take care of themselves and their property.

After being appointed by the court as an advocate, instead of providing legal assistance, Marla, with her expertise, drains the wealth of the pensioners in a cunning manner. Because of this, many of Marla's victims did not realize that they had been cheated.

After gaining control of the assets of the elderly, Marla and Fran (Eiza González), her partner and lover, find a new client named Jennifer Peterson (Dianne Wiest). Jennifer is someone who has no family, heirs, or debts.

At first, Marla and Fran believe they can take control of Jennifer's estate with ease. However, they soon realize that their new client is not a wealthy senior citizen like their previous victims.

Jennifer has a close relationship with a Russian gangster leader named Roman Lunyov (Peter Dinklage). Marla and Fran then strategize a new game so as not to get caught in Roman's grasp.

I Care a Lot is directed and written by J. Blakeson, the man behind the success of The Disappearance of Alice Creed.
